Santosh is a renowned cinematographer and director, and a founding member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India and has an impressive resume of 45 feature films and 41 documentaries under his belt.
Throughout his career, Santosh has won numerous awards, including his first National Award in 1988 for the Story of Tiblu. His film Halo was also recognized at the 43rd National Film Awards as the Best Children's Film and Best Sound.
Santosh's achievements also include being the first cinematographer in the Asia-Pacific region to join the American Society of Cinematographers membership. He has won five National Film Awards as a cinematographer, four of which are for Best Feature Film Cinematography. In total, he has received eleven National Film Awards and 21 international awards for his outstanding work. In 2014, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions to Indian cinema.
