Shirsha Guha Thakurta is an advertising filmmaker turned feature director and the Founder of Oink Films.

With an instinctive ability to capture the essence of a story, set the right tone, and draw out layered performances from actors, Shirsha has carved a distinct space for herself in the industry. Her work has earned her numerous national and international awards, and she has also served on the jury of the Good Ads Matter Awards in the category of Film Craft, Casting & Performance.

An alumna of the Maine Media Workshops (USA), Shirsha has spent more than a decade directing evocative commercials for leading brands including Google, WhatsApp, Reebok, Tanishq, Titan, Facebook, Vogue, Faces Canada, P&G, GSK, World Gold Council, Cadbury, Johnson & Johnson, among others. Her notable campaigns include The Times of India – Kolkata, What3words – Kidhar Hai, Myntra – Try Myntra, You’ll Love It, Khushii – Flight of Joy, as well as films for DeBeers, Godrej Industries Group (She For She), and OPPO (Live in the Moment).

In 2024, Shirsha made her feature film debut with Do Aur Do Pyaar, a refreshing and nonjudgmental romantic dramedy starring Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. The film, praised for its sensitivity and visual flair, explores the cyclical nature of love — asking whether couples eventually turn into flatmates once the initial spark fades. In her own words, while Bollywood often treats romance as fantasy, she wanted to focus on “mature, messy, real love,” describing it as “comfort food” that embraces imperfections.

Shirsha’s film journey began as an assistant to Ram Gopal Varma on projects like Run and Contract. But with Do Aur Do Pyaar, she established her own voice — one rooted in realism, emotion, and a fresh take on modern relationships.
