Writer-director Shamik Sengupta has shot many award-winning short films and documentaries in his career.
He started making films in 2010 — writing and shooting short films and documentaries. His first short film Zinfandel earned him a scholarship in film studies at the Gothenburg Film Institute, Sweden.
In 2015, he started making commercials and branded content films full-time relinquishing his creative director's role at Ogilvy India. His short film Playgrounds from 2016 won the Best Short Film award at IFFLA '16 and Gold at IFVA, Hong Kong. It was screened at the Palm Springs Shortest, IFF Stuttgart, London, Melbourne, Toronto and Mumbai International Film Festival.
Shamik works as a freelance director and screenwriter. For personal projects, he has often juggled the roles of writer, director, cinematographer, producer, production designer and editor.
He has worked for brands like Myntra, WOW, Sony Sport, Tanishq and Google Pixel.
