Ashim Ahluwalia is a director and the founder of Future East Film, a Mumbai-based production company.

His filmmaking journey began in 1995 after earning a BA in Filmmaking from Bard College in upstate New York.

Known for challenging traditional narratives, Ashim's work is characterised by high aesthetic value, sharp use of colour, dynamic lighting, and a nuanced understanding of human emotion. His distinctive creative vision is reflected in projects such as Kamla for CEAT Tyres, the End of Reason Sale campaign for Myntra, the Philips Trimmer advert ft. Virat Kohli, and the ABP Centenary film, among others.

He holds the rare distinction of being the only Indian director whose work has premiered in the official selections of Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, and SXSW. His visually striking style—marked by inventive camera movements and captivating lighting—earned him recognition from Phaidon Press in Take 100: The Future of Film as “one of the ten best-emerging film directors working today.”

Beyond cinema, Ahluwalia is an established ad film director. Under Future East Films, he has directed campaigns for brands such as Britannia, Bose, Audi, Chevrolet, Colgate, L’Oréal, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Visa, Sony, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Meta, Reliance, and more.

His directorial repertoire spans the Netflix series Cla$$ (2023) and the feature films Daddy (2017) and Miss Lovely (2012), all of which have received critical acclaim.

In 2022, Ahluwalia launched Future East Digital (FED), a full-service creative studio focused on developing innovative digital experiences in AR, VR, AI, and other emerging technologies.
