Aparna Sud is an acclaimed production designer who won the Filmfare Award for Best Production Design for Neerja, where she recreated a Pan Am Boeing 747 with exceptional detail and authenticity.
A graduate in interior design from Shimla, who later transitioned into film, her career began as an assistant art director on Dhoom in 2003 and quickly grew through projects like Being Cyrus and The Namesake
Her filmography spans both mainstream and impactful work, including titles like ABCD: Anybody Can Dance, Tevar, Dus Kahaniyaan, Rann, Jubilee, and Neerja—for which her meticulous set design earned widespread attention.
For Jubilee, she drew inspiration from archival films by Guru Dutt and Satyajit Ray, bringing to life the nostalgia of Bombay’s 1950s through detailed period sets
Aparna also works extensively in advertising, creating immersive campaign visuals for brands like Nike (Da Da Ding), Philips Lighting with Ranbir Kapoor, and Nivea Men with Ranveer Singh, as well as for Pizza Hut, Airtel, Idea, Nokia, Mastercard, Volkswagen, Google, and others
Her design philosophy centers on visual storytelling: “In the one second that a girl walks into a room, I want the viewer to know as much about her life through her surroundings,” she explains—a principle she applies across projects in both film and advertising.
