Shlok Sharma is a Mumbai-based writer, director, and producer at Absolute Productions, and the co-founder of Fundamental Films. With a career spanning short films, commercials, and feature cinema, he has built a reputation for blending strong narratives with inventive cinematic craft.
He began his journey in filmmaking as an assistant director, working alongside acclaimed filmmakers like Vishal Bhardwaj (The Blue Umbrella, Omkara) and Anurag Kashyap (No Smoking, Dev.D), before serving as Second Unit Director on Gangs of Wasseypur I & II.
Parallel to cinema, Shlok has carved a strong niche in advertising. With a narrative-driven approach that blends cinematic storytelling with brand purpose, he has directed high-profile campaigns such as Dream11 IPL 2020: Ek Saath Waali Baat, TATA IPL 2023 | Virat Roars! Shor On, Game On, Disney+ Hotstar – House of the Dragon Promo ft. Janhvi Kapoor & Sara Ali Khan, and Indal Panther TMT Sariya – Hamesha Ke Liye. He is recognised for his work with brands like Disney+ Hotstar, SBI, Surf Excel, and Amazon, to name a few.
As a feature filmmaker, Shlok made his debut with the 2013 anthology Shorts, contributing the segment Sujata, produced by Anurag Kashyap and Guneet Monga. He followed this with Haraamkhor (2017), which premiered at the New York Indian Film Festival and won the Silver Gateway of India Trophy at MAMI despite censorship hurdles. Always pushing creative boundaries, he shot Zoo (2018) entirely on an iPhone — the first of its kind in India — which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival and later streamed on Netflix after its Indian premiere at MAMI. His most recent film, Two Sisters and a Husband (2022), competed in the International Narrative Competition at the Tribeca Film Festival.
In addition to features and commercials, Shlok has directed short films including Tubelight Ka Chaand, Bombay Mirror, R.I.P (Romance in Peace), and Beautiful World. His body of work reflects an inventive style rooted in strong narratives, layered characters, and cinematic craft, all while maintaining high-quality brand value.
