Ravi Udyawar is an Ad-film Director and the Founder of Ravi Udyawar Films, as well as a gold medalist from the JJ School of Arts, Mumbai.
Ravi’s connection with cinema dates back to his childhood, watching black-and-white films on Doordarshan and developing a fascination with the lens. He began his professional journey as a painter and illustrator, later working at advertising agencies and designing graphics for television channels like Channel V and MTV, before moving into ad filmmaking.
At the age of 24, he gained recognition for directing the music video of Silk Route’s Dooba Dooba Rehta Hoon, which became the love anthem of its era and the first underwater video to be shot in India.
Driven by a desire to explore narratives beyond advertising, Ravi made his feature film debut in 2017 with Mom, starring Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, followed by Yudhra. As a filmmaker, he is drawn to capturing the emotional complexities of human relationships with honesty and purity.
In advertising, his body of work spans across leading brands, with notable campaigns including Parachute’s “World’s Best Hair”, Asian Paints ft. Deepika Padukone, Hero “Unleash the Hero Within”, and Hero Maestro “Kal ke saath chal” with Ranbir Kapoor. His style is marked by a balance of strong visual craft and human storytelling.
