Rachna Rastogi Sen is an acclaimed production designer and spatial artist, with over 20 years of experience shaping the visual identity of Indian cinema and advertising. An alumna of the National Institute of Design (NID), she co-founded Xheight, a multi-disciplinary design studio with fellow NID graduate KK Muralidharan. Xheight has become a hub for cutting-edge spatial design in film, theatre, museum installations, and educational experiences.
Rachna's body of work reflects her refined sensibility and an ability to translate narrative into immersive, lived-in spaces. Her cinematic portfolio includes celebrated films such as Dhoom 2, Karthik Calling Karthik, and the animated epic Arjun: The Warrior Prince (Disney-UTV). In the commercial world, she has designed for top brands including ThumsUp (ft. Vicky Kaushal), Livspace (ft. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma), Sting (ft. Akshay Kumar), and more, with a consistent focus on authenticity and character-driven design.
Over the years, Rachna has been at the forefront of India’s evolving design landscape, often credited as one of the early proponents of production design in advertising. Her approach is rooted in the belief that “every space is a character,” and her work continues to push boundaries across live-action and animation. She is known for her ability to balance a director’s vision while maintaining a deep sensitivity to character and context.
Alongside her commercial practice, she also contributes to content design for museums and learning centers, continuing to bridge creative disciplines with clarity and purpose.
