He is the former COO of the advertising agency Leo Burnett. His work spans across formats—producing films in collaboration with other studios as well as crafting advertising campaigns for brands across sectors.
His commercial portfolio includes campaigns such as Dream11’s Aal Izz Well, Dream11 IPL 2024’s Sharma Ji Ka Beta, IPL 2025’s #AapkiTeamMeinKaun featuring Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, KBC’s Samman and Loudspeaker, IDFC First Bank with Amitabh Bachchan, and Axis Bank Foundation’s The Story of #AMillionThanks, among many others.
He has collaborated with brands including Tide, CaratLane, MuscleBlaze, Amazon, Peter England, Zomato, Dream11, IDFC, and Axis Bank, to name a few.
He made his directorial debut in 2011 with Chillar Party, a children’s film that received the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film. His subsequent works include Bhoothnath Returns (2014), Dangal (2016)—which became the highest-grossing Indian film globally and earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Director—and Chhichhore (2019), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
Beyond cinema, Earthsky Pictures has produced works such as the docu-series Break Point—based on tennis legends Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes—and feature narratives including Ghar Ki Murgi, Ankahi Kahaaniyan, Tarla, and Bawaal (2023).
Looking ahead, Nitesh is directing a landmark adaptation of the epic Ramayana, a project over a decade in the making. The film involves extensive script and VFX development, along with scholarly consultations to ensure authenticity. The first part is scheduled for release in 2026, followed by the second in 2027.
