Mahesh Gharat is a Director at Hungry Films and a seasoned advertising professional with over two decades of experience.


Formerly the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) South at Ogilvy, he has been instrumental in shaping some of India’s most memorable campaigns.


Mahesh began his advertising journey in 1999 with McCann Erickson, later holding key positions at Rediffusion Y&R, Publicis India, and Ogilvy. Over the years, he has built a reputation for blending cultural insight with powerful storytelling.


Known for crafting impactful stories that resonate with wide audiences, his campaign for St. Jude ChildCare Centres – The Impossible Choice won five metals at the Good Ads Matter Awards 2025, including:

Gold – Creative: Films for Good (PSA Advertising), Gold – PSA Advertising, Silver – Film Craft: Writing for Advertising (Hindi), Silver – Film Craft: Cinematography (Narrative, Online), and Silver – Film Craft: Direction (Narrative, Online).


Mahesh has directed acclaimed campaigns such as Acko’s Ode to Mumbai, Sunfeast Mom’s Magic Mother’s Day, Ashok Leyland’s Taav Mein, and Adani Sports, featuring India’s top athletes. His work also extends to celebrated campaigns for Cadbury, Amazon, and Fevicol, which have earned recognition at Cannes Lions, D&AD, and One Show.


Beyond advertising, Mahesh is also a gifted musician, having composed songs for popular Indian films—bringing yet another layer of creativity to his storytelling.
