Diana Atunes

Based in Lisbon, Portugal

Diana Antunes was a dancer for years, which led her to cultivate a strong passion for visual aesthetics and the exploration of the human body through representation and movement.

Diana graduated in Cinema, Video and Multimedia Communication at the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies, in Lisbon, driven by a passion for Direction and Art Direction.

She later moved to London (2012-2014), where she worked as a filmmaker. She directed some projects subsequently exhibited at the Somerset House and the Victoria & Albert Museum. In 2015, she did a film residence at CalArts, California Institute of the Arts, in Los Angeles. She returned to Lisbon, and, ever since, she has been working as a director in advertising, cinema and music videos.

In 2020, she produced a short film for Canal 180, “Desabitar”, which was selected for the Personal Work section at the Berlin Commercial Festival, in the category of Best Director, Best Photography and Best Art Direction, winning the award in this last category. Currently she is finishing her first documentary feature, Bukra, which follows the resilience of Palestinian refugees thriving to resist the Israel Occupation through different non-violent paths.
