Bharat Sikka is a director at Ransom Film and a fine art photographer whose work brings contemporary visions of India into sharp focus. He began his practice in India before refining his craft at the Parsons School of Design in New York, where he earned a BFA in Photography.

His work is rooted in a fine art perspective that blends environmental portraiture, urban landscapes, and deeply personal explorations of identity and place. His early series, Indian Men (2003), offered a poignant examination of masculinity through portraits of family and friends, imbued with quiet dignity and subtle humor.

He continued to explore India’s evolving cultural landscape in Space in Between (2004), documenting transformations with a 4×5 view camera as a deliberate counterpoint to stereotypical imagery of India. His nearly decade-long series Matter (2011) employed a predominantly monochromatic palette to reflect the cultural and social shifts brought on by globalization.

Some of his notable commercial works include campaigns such as Spotify India’s Feel the Music featuring Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy and A.R. Rahman, Indigo Airlines, Live it Large for Royal Stag, Chivas Studio (2013), Hyatt Weddings Perfectly Yours, Facebook’s Keep Playing India, Bhima Jewellery, and BMW, among others.

After debuting with Indian Men at Artists Space in New York, Bharat’s work has been showcased at national and international platforms, including the National Museum of India (2008). His photography has also appeared in leading publications such as The New Yorker, i-D, Vogue, Vogue Homme International, Details, and Time Magazine. He currently divides his time between Europe and India.

In addition to his fine art practice, he has collaborated with brands such as Tinder (Start Something New campaign), Royal Enfield, Obi, MTS, Royal Stag, Budweiser, Chivas, and Spotify, bringing his creative vision to commercial storytelling.
