Afshan Hussain Shaikh is the Founder and Director of Not Bad Films, a Mumbai-based advertising production company.


Coming from a distinguished artistic lineage, she is part of the family of Padma Bhushan Zakir Hussain and Ustad Allah Rakha Khan. Her professional journey began with eight years assisting acclaimed directors including Bruno Aveillan (QUAD, Paris) and Kunal Kapoor (Adfilmwallas), before serving as Associate Director to Shashanka Chaturvedi and later directing at Good Morning Films. She went on to establish Not Bad Films, where she continues to develop narrative-led commercial work.


Afshan's visual style combines contemporary cinematic craft with Indian cultural influences, creating films that are both emotionally engaging and visually distinctive. At the Good Ads Matter Awards 2025, she served as a jury member for the Film Craft – Colour Grading category.


At the Good Ads Matter Awards 2026, her work was recognised across the Film Craft categories. Himalaya – Made No. 1 By Babies won Gold for AI-Integrated Live Action Film, while Bajaj Freedom – Azaadi Aage Badhne Ki received Bronze for Visual Effects – CG/CGI.


Her notable work includes Bajaj Freedom – Azaadi Aage Badhne Ki, Himalaya – Made No. 1 By Babies, Bajaj Pulsar M160, Nestlé Nangrow – No to Oh, Nestlé Lactogrow – Tublu, Bajaj Freedom – Metamorphosis, Amazon – Har Din Behtar, OPPO – Diwali, Nanhi Kali – Girls Football, Cornetto – Wall of Death, Tasva featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Ananya Panday, Amazon – Raksha Bandhan, Bajaj Chetak – Liveproof, and Khimji Jewellers – Tyohaar Roshniyon Ka, among others.


Over the years, Afshan has collaborated with brands including Bajaj, Amazon, Nestlé, Engage, Mahindra, OPPO, Cornetto, Coca-Cola, Pulsar, Allen Solly, and Campus.
