Adam Valdez

Based in London

An Academy Award and BAFTA winning Visual Effects Supervisor, Adam Valdez is one of our most experienced and talented visual effects artists, with more than 25 years of experience working behind the scenes on major films.

Adam worked once again with Jon Favreau as Production Visual Effects Supervisor on the director’s live-action re-imagining of Disney’s The Lion King. This followed their successful collaboration on Disney’s The Jungle Book, where he led a team of more than 800 artists working alongside Favreau and Production Supervisor Rob Legato.

For The Jungle Book, a new approach to filmmaking would be required, harnessing the latest technology and creative talent. Fifty-four species of animals and 224 unique animals were created and new computer programs were developed to better simulate muscles, skin and fur. The team’s work led to a multitude of awards including an Academy Award, BAFTA, HPA and VES awards.

Adam joined Technicolor’s MPC in 2003, where he has led teams on such features as Maleficent, World War Z, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and 10,000 BC. He is a notable member of MPC’s board, and as an industry-leading creator of visual effects, he was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2016.

Prior to his current role, Adam spent two years in the re-launched visual effects group at Pacific Data Images. He then went on to Weta Digital to build the animation, crowd, motion capture and rigging departments. There he was also Animation Supervisor on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Adam began his career with eight years at California’s respected Tippett Studio, where he worked as an Animator on Steven Spielberg’s iconic Jurassic Park; Miniatures Fabricator on Robocop 2; and Lead Character Animator on Starship Troopers.
