Vinita Chaitanya is an Indian interior designer and the founder of Prism, a Bangalore-based interior design studio established in 1988. Chaitanya is known for designing high-end residential interiors for prominent clients across India. Through Prism, she has worked on projects ranging from restored heritage homes to contemporary urban residences. Her design style can be described as “contemporary classic,” blending traditional Indian elements such as textiles, artefacts, and decorative motifs with modern Western design influences.

Chaitanya began her career in 1988 working with the design department of The Oberoi Group, one of India’s pioneering luxury hospitality companies. After spending about three and a half years there, she returned to Bengaluru to establish her own practice. Her first independent assignment was designing the McDowell’s office on Cunningham Road in Bengaluru, a project that helped establish her reputation and led to further residential commissions.

Over the years, Chaitanya has worked on a number of notable residential projects for business leaders and public figures. Her clientele includes Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, and Sudha and N. R. Narayana Murthy, among others.

Her work also extends to commercial and hospitality projects, including the Tarun Tahiliani flagship boutique in Bengaluru, designed within a restored heritage cantonment house. Her projects are frequently featured in design publications such as Architectural Digest India and Elle Decor.
