Vikramaditya Motwane is an acclaimed Indian filmmaker, writer, and producer known for his innovative storytelling and diverse cinematic ventures. He made his directorial debut with Udaan (2010), which competed in the 'Un Certain Regard' category at the Cannes Film Festival and went on to win seven Filmfare Awards.
Over the years, Motwane has continued to exemplify his creative visions with films like Lootera (2013), Trapped (2017), Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018), AK vs AK (2020), and CTRL (2024). He has also played a pivotal role in shaping India’s streaming landscape, serving as the showrunner and co-director of Sacred Games (2018–2019), Netflix’s first Indian original series. His other notable streaming projects include Jubilee (2023) and the upcoming Black Warrant (2025).
A former assistant to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Motwane began his career working on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas (2002). He has also made significant contributions as a producer, backing acclaimed films like Queen (2014) and Udta Punjab (2016).
Previously a co-founder of Phantom Films, Motwane now leads his production company, Andolan Films, dedicated to creating impactful narratives across various mediums. With his keen eye for storytelling and a commitment to pushing cinematic boundaries, he continues to be one of India’s most influential filmmakers.
