Sameer Rahat (also known as SR) is a multi-faceted music composer, lyricist, and performer, celebrated for fusing Urdu poetry with blues, creating a unique genre known as "Urdu-Blues". Born into a poetic family—son of renowned poets Anjum Rehbar and Rahat Indori—he draws deeply from his literary roots to craft emotionally rich, modern soundscapes.
With a career spanning over 17 years, Sameer evolved from indie singer-songwriter to an acclaimed composer and lyricist across platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, SonyLIV, and Disney+. His debut album Aamad received widespread praise, and his follow-up Puraana in early 2025.
Sameer is the composer behind Modern Love – Mumbai (notably the background score for the Baai episode) and the Amazon Prime show Hush Hush. He has also composed for Vice’s documentary series The Unfiltered History Tour, a critically acclaimed project that earned 18 awards at Spikes Asia.
Beyond streaming, his advertising portfolio includes work for brands like Uber, Dabur, Bumble, Samsung, Hershey’s, and United Colors of Benetton.
