Prosit Roy is a filmmaker, writer and commercial director whose work spans feature films, streaming series and advertising. His films are recognised for their atmospheric storytelling, understated performances and carefully crafted visual language.
After graduating from the University of Calcutta, Prosit began his career as an assistant and associate director, working on films including Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, Delhi-6, What's Your Raashee?, Ek Thi Daayan and Phillauri. He made his directorial debut with the short film Bloody Moustache (2015), which screened at several international film festivals, before directing the feature film Pari (2018). He later co-directed the first season of Paatal Lok, earning the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Director (Series).
Alongside his long-form work, Prosit has directed advertising campaigns and branded films for brands including Amazon, Pampers and Goel TMT. His campaign Band Baaja Bitiya for Goel TMT, featuring Gajraj Rao, explores themes of domestic abuse and parental support through a story inspired by real events. The film received recognition across advertising award shows, including winning The Piyush Pandey Polaris Award at the Good Ads Matter Awards 2026, along with honours across categories such as Advertising Film (Hindi), Films for Good, Film B2B, Writing for Advertising, Strategy, Casting, Sound Design and Costume Design.
Across formats, Prosit's work is characterised by a focus on character, atmosphere and emotionally grounded narratives. Whether directing feature films, streaming series or commercials, he approaches each project with a cinematic sensibility and a strong emphasis on story.
