Pankaj Awasthi is a music composer, playback singer, and lyricist celebrated for his contributions to both Indian advertising and Bollywood. A Delhi native with a music degree from KMC Manipal, he transitioned from medical studies to pursue his musical passion in Mumbai.
He entered the film industry with Karam (2005), where he wrote and performed the title track “Tera Hi Karam.” His talent flourished with Anwar (2007), where he composed, wrote, and performed standout tracks like “Dilbar Mera,” “Jo Maine Aas Lagayi,” and others.
Pankaj’s versatility was further showcased as a playback singer in films like New York (2009) and Lahore (2010), followed by a return as a composer with Sameer (2017).
In the world of advertising, Pankaj has lent his voice and creative flair to memorable campaigns—his work includes the energetic Honda jingle “Dekho Dekhe Yeh Zamana,” the evocative MP Tourism theme, and a Nerolac Excel ad (ft. Shah Rukh Khan).
Beyond film and campaigns, Pankaj has independently released two albums: Nine (2005), a fusion of soft rock, blues, and pop; and Somrass (2012), a lyrical blend of ghazals and Western electronic music, featuring poetry set to experimental soundscapes.
