He won the award for Best Cinematography at the National Film Awards in 1987.
His work spans across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi language films. His movie 'Kuruthipunal' was India's entry to the Oscars in 1996. He often finds mention among the top 10 cinematographers in India.
Some of his notable works include Pad Man (2018), Alaipayuthey (2000), Agni Natchethiram (1998), and Mouna Ragam (1986).
He has collaborated with esteemed brands over the years, with the recent one being the Everest campaigns featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
