Neha Parti Matiyani ISC, IWCC is a Mumbai-based cinematographer whose work spans feature films, web series, and advertising.
A graduate of the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune (batch of 2004), she was guided early on by the institute’s director, who advised: “No one can teach you anything, you have to learn it on your own.” This ethos has informed her approach to cinematography, shaping her career across Hindi cinema and branded content.
Neha’s interest in cinematography emerged while studying Mass Communication at Delhi University’s IP College. She began working with a Delhi-based production house, writing, shooting, and editing non-fiction films. By her third year, she was certain that cinematography was her calling, and she joined FTII to pursue it exclusively.
Her formative industry experience was spent assisting renowned cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran (ISC) on films such as Fanaa, Saawariya, Firaaq, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Ghajini, My Name is Khan, and Anjaana Anjaani.
In advertising, Neha has brought the same cinematic sensibility to campaigns for brands such as MATRIX (featuring Shah Rukh Khan), Shiksha Ka Suraj, Zandu Vigorex – Light Bulb, Snickers, Kissan Ketchup, and MTV, among others. Her campaigns are recognised for their clarity, visual polish, and ability to communicate brand narratives effectively while engaging audiences emotionally.
Neha stepped into independent cinematography in 2011 with Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge (Yash Raj Films) and has since worked on films including Waiting, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Rashmi Rocket, the latter earning her a nomination for Best Cinematography at the 67th Filmfare Awards. She has also contributed to digital series such as Amazon Prime’s Four More Shots Please!.
Her style combines technical precision with narrative awareness, making her a versatile and reliable voice in both advertising and narrative cinema.
