Mikey McCleary

Mikey McCleary is an award-winning composer, songwriter, and music producer originally from New Zealand, born in Chennai, India. Since moving to Mumbai in 2007, he has become a prominent figure in the Indian music industry, contributing to a wide array of advertising campaigns, Bollywood soundtracks, and independent music projects.

McCleary studied Composition and Orchestration at the Wellington Conservatorium of Music and at Victoria University of Wellington. He spent nearly 15 years working in London before relocating to Mumbai. In 2024, he launched the all-girl Indian pop group W.i.S.H., aiming to bring a fresh energy to the Indian music scene.

McCleary has composed and produced music for numerous Bollywood films, including Margarita with a Straw, Shanghai, Shaitan, Shaandaar, Bombay Velvet, David, Nautanki Saala, and The Sky Is Pink. His work on Margarita with a Straw earned him the Best Composer award at the 2015 Asian Film Awards.

In the advertising realm, he has crafted memorable jingles for major brands such as Coca-Cola, Uber, Tinder, Spotify, Budweiser, Levi's, Durex, Canon, Sony, Audi, VW, Nokia, Panasonic, Adidas, Vespa, and Mercedes, among others.

Under the moniker "The Bartender," McCleary has reimagined classic Bollywood songs with a contemporary twist. His albums Classic Bollywood: Shaken not Stirred, B Seventy, and Classic Bollywood with a Twist showcase his innovative approach to music. Additionally, his album TV Dinners features full-length versions of popular advertising jingles, transforming them into complete songs.
