Kelly Lyon


Kelly Lyon, ACE Eddie nominated film and video editor renowned for her expertise in comedy. She specializes in editing stand-up specials, having worked on acclaimed productions such as the Emmy-winning special "John Mulaney Kid Gorgeous at Radio City," the Emmy-nominated "Amy Schumer Growing," and the WGA-nominated "Yearly Departed." Notably, Kelly has made significant contributions to NBC's "Saturday Night Live," editing beloved parody commercials, digital shorts, and music videos. Her exceptional work on the SNL at Home episodes during the 2020 pandemic earned her a nomination for an Eddie Award from the American Cinema Editors.


Kelly's portfolio extends to various notable projects, including editing both seasons of "That Damn Michael Che" for HBO Max, "Everything's Trash" for ABC Freeform, and providing assistance on FX's "The Bear." She also played a key role in editing the montage of political sketches for the Emmy Award-winning "SNL 40th Anniversary Special." Furthermore, Kelly has lent her editing skills to acclaimed shows like IFC's "Portlandia" and Cartoon Network's "The Shivering Truth."


In addition to her impressive contributions to full-length productions, Kelly has edited numerous award-winning shorts. Notable among them is the Emmy-nominated "This American Life's 'Videos 4U: I Love You,'" which received the Webby Award for Best Individual Short Drama. Her work on "Sincerely Erik" garnered a Vimeo Best of the Year award, while "Sequin Raze" earned the Honorable Mention Short Film Jury Award at the SxSW Film Festival and went on to evolve into Lifetime's Peabody-winning and Emmy-nominated hit show, "Unreal." Kelly's editing skills were also recognized with the outstanding video award in the PDN Photo Annual contest for "Melvin The Birder."


Beyond her work in the comedy genre, Kelly is adept at editing music videos, commercials, and documentary shorts. Balancing her time between New York City and Portland, Oregon, she collaborates with clients across the country.


Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount, Broadway Video, Saturday Night Live, Cartoon Network, National Geographic Channel, Wieden + Kennedy, Nike, Heineken and KFC are some of the brands she has worked with.


Kelly is currently an editor at Arts Academy.
