Karan Kulkarni is a music composer and producer renowned for his versatile work across advertising, film, and independent music. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Music Production/Sound Design from Queensland University of Technology, Karan returned to India and swiftly established himself in the advertising industry.
He has composed music and background scores for numerous ads, collaborating with renowned production houses like Footloose Films, Coconut Films, and Conversation Films. His clientele includes prestigious brands such as Google, Vodafone, Star Sports, Flipkart, Titan Industries, Honda, Vasan Eye Care, Lifestyle, Parachute, Amazon, and TBZ, among others.
Simultaneously, Karan ventured into the film industry by assisting music director Amit Trivedi on movies such as Ishaqzaade, English Vinglish, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Trishna, and Aiyya. He eventually composed music for critically acclaimed films like Shahid and Aligarh. In 2017, he contributed to the background score of the movie Tumhari Sulu, ft. Vidya Balan. His 2019 release includes Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, directed by Vasan Bala.
In 2025, Karan released his debut independent EP titled One, marking a significant personal and artistic milestone. The four-track collection offers a deeply introspective look into themes of belief, vulnerability, and emotional evolution. The lead single, "Iraade," is a textured blend of gliding synths, delicate vocal layers, and glitchy sound design, reflecting what Kulkarni describes as "quiet rebellion."
His accolades include Mirchi Music Award (Best Background Score), Silver ABBY Awards (Best Music in Advertising), with Official Selections at Cannes Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival. He also bagged a Gold for his work on Zivame's 'The Museum of Boobs' at the Good Ads Matter Awards 2025, under the category of Best Exisiting/Adapted Music.
