Ishaan Nair is a visual artist working across multiple mediums- filmmaker, photographer and writer with a degree in direction and cinematography from the School of Visual Arts in New York. His thesis film ‘Guroor’ won him the best director award at the Dusty film festival and a nomination at the IAAC, NY festival. In his search for himself, he discovered an innate talent for photography.
Without any formal training, he has shot covers & editorials for Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel, Cosmopolitan and Grazia magazines. Additionally he has shot commercial campaigns for some of the leading brands across the globe like Apple, Nike , G-shock, H&M to name a few.
His skills have led him to photograph & direct some of the best-known faces of the thriving Indian and International Film Industries. With a stronghold in fashion, he has directed advertising campaigns, films and shows for the most celebrated brands and platforms.
‘Kaash’, a film written and directed by Ishaan Nair marks his Independent directorial debut. It had its world premier at Tokyo International Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Spirit Award for debut directors. His feature film served as a foray into the world of advertising & since then he has directed commercials for the NBA, H&M, American Express, Taj Palaces, Dove, Airbnb, Puma & Apple to name a few.
In 2021, he got back into narrative fiction and directed two episodes of a Netflix original, titled Bhaag Beanie Bhaag with acclaimed actor Swara Bhaskar as the lead. He is currently working on his feature film that he hopes to be in production later this year.
