Emma Branderhorst is a director at The Corner Shop, an international production company known for representing filmmakers across commercials, film, and branded content, with offices in London and Los Angeles.
Emma began her career with independent short films, developing a distinct voice centred on realism and female perspectives. Her early films, including ‘Under the Skin’, ‘Ma Mère et Moi’, and ‘Spotless’, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, establishing her as a strong emerging talent. Her work often explores social themes such as identity, gender, and societal taboos, presented through intimate and relatable narratives.
Alongside her film work, she has directed commercial campaigns for brands and organisations such as McDonald’s, Toyota, KPN, and Fondation des Femmes. Her projects balance strong storytelling with purpose-driven messaging, particularly around themes like online shaming and social issues.
Her work has received significant international recognition. Spotless won the Crystal Bear at Berlinale and was the Dutch submission for the Academy Awards. She has also won the Young Director Awards at Cannes for two consecutive years, and more recently, a Cannes Lions Grand Prix for A Piece of Me.
