D&AD Awards

In 1962, a group of designers and art directors including David Bailey, Terence Donovan, and Alan Fletcher formed British Design & Art Direction to celebrate creative communication and raise industry standards. The following year, they organized their first awards event and awarded only 16 entries out of 2,500 with the prestigious D&AD Yellow Pencil. Today, the organization is known simply as D&AD and has expanded globally to represent the creative, design, and advertising communities worldwide.
