Ayyappan Raj is the Co-founder of The Script Room, an independent writers' hub he founded in 2019, alongside Rajesh Ramaswamy. The collective is focused solely on writing scripts for television commercials and feature films—offering content strategies, scriptwriting expertise, and production support to their clients.
Ayyappan started his career in 1992 in the network administration and software support department. He segued to advertising when he then took on the role of Senior Brand Services Manager at MullenLowe Lintas Group. He later joined Ogilvy as an Account Director, followed by his stint at McCann Worldgroup as the Group Business Director. There, he was associated with projects like Aashirvaad 'Boond se Sagar', and Britannia's corporate film.
He returned to MullenLowe Lintas Group as the Executive Vice President, where he helmed campaigns like TATA Tea Gold 'Kaala Tika', Tata Tea 'Jaago Re | Shah Rukh Khan's Chhoti Shuruaat', Motilal Oswal 'Think Equity, Think Motilal Oswal', and MTV Beats 'Mobarak Ho! Baap Hua Hai'. His last career pitstop before founding the Script Room was a short stint at MullenLowe Singapore as the Business Head of Unilever Global.
With an experience of over two decades, Ayyappan has developed a keen eye for catching hold of the very pulse of the local demographics, captivating audiences with stories niche, relatable, and thought-provoking.
At The Script Room, he has crafted campaigns such as Netflix 'So, What Are You Watching?' and 'Should've Just Netflixed', Bumble 'The First Move', Phonepe 'Nature's Call' and 'New Girl in the City', Tinder 'We Need to Talk', Paper Boat 'Coconut Water Drink', and Storia 'Stay Fruited'. Their brand portfolio also includes the likes of OYO, Groww, Nykaa, Chumbak, Vedantu and My11Circle.
