Avinash Jai Singh is a Mumbai-based photographer, filmmaker, and founder of FLATWHYT, a creative studio working across photography and direction.

Raised in Panipat, in the heart of India's textile belt, his early years surrounded by fabric, dye, and pattern shaped an instinctive relationship with color. By thirteen, he was sketching live portraits, training his eye to read form and likeness long before he ever picked up a camera. He went on to study graphic design before committing fully to photography, a foundation that still shows in how intuitively he moves between shape, color, light, and the relationships between them.

That intuition is the core of his visual signature: light treated almost as a character in the frame, played with and shaped until it carries an emotional charge the audience feels before they consciously register the composition. His frames favour restraint over spectacle, bold shapes and negative space over decoration; mood and story lead, technique follows.

That same sensibility carries through his commercial and fashion work, where campaigns are treated less like product showcases and more like short stories, often collaborating with agencies such as Leo Burnett and Ogilvy. Along the way, his imagery has shaped visual communication for advertising across brands like Adidas, Coca-Cola, Google, and Spotify, and personalities including Virat Kohli, A. R. Rahman, and Ranbir Kapoor, among others.

At the Good Ads Matter Awards 2026, FLATWHYT was recognised with a Gold Medal and a Silver Medal for Naturals Ice Cream’s ‘Tree to Treat’ press and outdoor executions. Another notable project of his, ‘If Only’, created for the Photographic Society of India, was recognised by The One Show and other leading national advertising award platforms. Other standout work also includes Spotify’s ‘There’s A Playlist for That’ and Mumbai Indians' 2024 IPL creative campaign

He has also been named among the Top 15 artists globally by Coca-Cola Atlanta for a global artwork commission.
